Mugello is crossed by a historic railway line, diesel traction, dedicated now only to local transport.
The first stretch from Florence to Borgo San Lorenzo were opened in 1890; and in1893 the stretch from Borgo San Lorenzo to Marradi, completed the missing section to connect the Mugello to Romagna, as well as Florence to Faenza.
At the “Faentina”, it adds exactly a century ago, in 1913, the stretch from Borgo San Lorenzo to Pontassieve, following the course of the Sieve and connecting with the old line that goes from Florence to Arezzo and Rome. This section allow to return to the capital of the region following the Arno, and makes a ring rail with an interesting view on the landscape.
The closest station from Farmholiday Corzano is San Piero a Sieve, at 15 km.
On the way from San Piero a Sieve to Borgo San Lorenzo, you can see the road that passes under the old railway, dominated itself by the great viaduct of the high-speed line, where trains Frecciarossa and Italo runs at 300 kmh, a tangible sign of the change, that render the railway Faentina even more romantic and charming.
The main cities on the railroad from Florence are: Vaglia, San Piero a Sieve, Borgo San Lorenzo, Vicchio, Dicomano, Rufina, while towards Faenza there are: Ronta, Marradi, Brisighella.
